A pro-Russian hacking collective known as Killnet launched a series of distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attacks against a number of U.S. state government websites. The group preannounced its campaign in a telegram post and listed several targets. Some of the targeted websites were inaccessible for only a short period of time. The campaign continued this week after Killnet listed major airport domains in another telegram post, urging members and volunteer hackers to continue DDOS efforts. The campaign rendered at least a dozen airport domains inaccessible for a short period of time and did not result in any operational disruptions. The collective also targeted or intends to target military entities, healthcare, marine terminals and logistics facilities, other forms of transportation, and online trading systems.
