The U.S. Department of Defense announced the release of Version 4.2 of the Online Cyber Resilient Weapon Systems Body of Knowledge (CRWS-BoK) on August 28. This free resource is designed to assist both the public and private sector workforces in the design, engineering, and safeguarding of secure cyber-resilient engineering (SCRE).
Launched by the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense’s System Security (SysSec) team in May 2021, the CRWS-BoK continues to evolve through regular updates aimed at enhancing functionality, engagement, and collaboration. Version 4.2 introduces several performance upgrades and resource improvements, including:
- Dynamic Link Searches: This feature enables users to easily locate resources related to specific authors, topics, or offices of primary responsibility. By following the hyperlinks, users can access additional relevant content from the same source.
- Resource Cards with Page Number Preview: Users can now preview the size of a PDF file before downloading or printing, thus streamlining resource access and management.
- Review Board Improvements: Enhancements to the review board provide users with greater accessibility, allowing members to efficiently review, comment, and vote on candidate resources for inclusion in the CRWS-BoK.
- Broken Link Checker for Curators: An automated broken link checker notifies curators of broken source links, ensuring the repository’s quality through robust verification and validation processes.
