Eduardo Takamura is a Supervisory IT Specialist in the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Information Technology Laboratory (ITL) Computer Security Division (CSD). He focuses on information security and risk management, serving as a researcher for the Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA) Implementation Project.

In his 24+ years of federal IT service, mostly as a contractor for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Eduardo previously served as Information System Security Officer (ISSO), (FISMA) Compliance Project Manager (PM), IT Manager, Lead Security Assessor, Linux System Administrator, Web Manager and in other IT-related roles. While the highlight of his career in support of the federal government was his service as ISSO for a NASA mission to Mars, the opportunity to serve federal cybersecurity and privacy professionals and their supporting contractors to help them manage risks is what brings him most professional joy and fulfillment.

He holds a M.S. in computer science from the Johns Hopkins University, a B.S. in computer science from Bowie State University, and is a Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP).
